web design

My goals for creating a blog are not complicated...I would like a place to post pictures and descriptions of examples of my engineering design work for professional purposes. This blog presents an opportunity to create an extended resume. I have always wanted to create an eletrconic resume that can show examples of my work in product design, and this seems to be the perfect medium to do so. My expereience with creating webpages is very limited....I have never actually published anything serious to the web and dont really know the logistics behind all of it. I think in this day and age it is important for everybody entering the technilogical world to know how to design web pages, so it is a main goal of mine as well. I have a good amount of experience with graphic creating programs such as photoshop, illustrator, and flash, but I lack the knowledge needed to create actual websites using these graphics. The main advantage I have is the desire to learn web design. With a strong graphical background, learning how to publish webpages using programs like dreamweaver is the one technical skill that I want to learn. As far as hardware is concerned, I own the necessary tools such as a desktop and laptop computer with solid graphics capabilities. The only software I have for web deisgn are basic graphic designing programs like illustrator. Ideally I would like to own a Mac computer because the experience I've had with them is better for creating graphics.
